Law firm marketing agencies in San Diego

San Diego law firms have more marketing options than they can reasonably evaluate. Some of the agencies competing for the work are headquartered here. Others are national firms with a long legal client list and no local office. Both can be the right answer depending on what a firm actually needs, and neither fact tells you much on its own.

This is a factual roundup rather than a ranking. Every description below is drawn from what each company says on its own website, and nothing is included that could not be verified there. There is no scoring, no ordering by quality, and no pricing, because none of these companies publish rates and inventing them would help nobody. The list is alphabetical. Nexus Multimedia is included and described the same way, since leaving ourselves out of a roundup we wrote would be its own kind of dishonesty.

How to read a list like this

Agency roundups are usually written by agencies, which is worth remembering while you read one. The useful information in any of them is not the adjectives. It is the service list, the practice areas a company says it serves, how long it says it has been doing the work, and whether it has people in your market.

Those four things narrow the field quickly. A firm that needs a full media operation including television and video wants a different shortlist from a firm that needs local search and a Google Business Profile fixed. A practice in a specialised area wants a company whose own site names that area. The rest is a conversation, and the questions worth asking in it are at the end of this piece.

Consultwebs

Consultwebs is a law firm marketing company based in Raleigh, North Carolina, operating since 1999. Its site describes more than twenty five years of work in legal marketing.

The published service list covers law firm marketing, SEO, AI SEO, digital advertising, web design, video marketing, social media marketing, email marketing, and website hosting, along with a proprietary product the company calls LawEval. Its case studies reference personal injury firms, and the site describes its client base as established law firms.

Consultwebs lists a single office and no San Diego location, so a San Diego firm working with them would be working with a remote team. Consultwebs

iLawyerMarketing

iLawyerMarketing is a legal marketing agency with an office in San Diego, on Carroll Canyon Road. Its site states the company has been working in legal marketing since 2005, describing more than twenty years in the field.

Its service list is the broadest of the five. Alongside law firm SEO, website design, Google Ads, and pay per click management, the company publishes services for answer engine optimization aimed at ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity, plus Facebook marketing, video production, YouTube advertising, streaming television advertising across CTV and OTT, chatbots, and mass tort marketing and lead generation.

The practice areas named on its site are personal injury, criminal defense, family and divorce, employment, bankruptcy, immigration, business, and estate planning. It also publishes location pages for a long list of metros including Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Chicago, and Houston. iLawyerMarketing

LawRank

LawRank is a legal marketing agency with offices in San Diego, on 6th Avenue downtown, and in New York. Its site describes a team that includes JD holders and says it has spent more than a decade building rankings exclusively for law firms.

The published services are SEO, PPC, AI optimization, attorney web design, and social media for lawyers. The company describes its content work as built to be cited when people ask AI platforms for a lawyer, alongside high authority link building and campaign management across search and programmatic advertising.

The practice areas named on its site are personal injury, criminal defense, family law, workers compensation, and employment law. Of the companies here, it is the one whose own positioning is narrowest: law firms only, and a short list of case types within that. LawRank

Nexus Multimedia

Nexus Multimedia is a law firm marketing agency headquartered in San Diego. We work with law firms and businesses, and we are based here rather than represented here.

The service list covers AI search visibility, Google SEO, editorial PR, reputation management, Google Business Profile optimization, paid advertising, website design, and social media account recovery. The AI search work is reported against a fixed prompt set run across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, and Bing AI, which is the part of the offering that is least standard across this list.

Engagements are month to month with 30 days written notice and no early termination fee. Clients own their domain, website, content, analytics, Search Console, Google Business Profile, and ad accounts at all times. The principal who scopes an engagement runs it, which suits firms that want to deal with the person doing the work and suits large multi-office operations less well. More detail is on our San Diego law firm marketing page and our San Diego location page.

Scorpion

Scorpion is a national marketing company with a legal division and a headquarters address in Lehi, Utah. Its legal pages describe more than twenty five years of work in legal marketing.

The services published for law firms cover website development, SEO, AI search, digital advertising, Local Services Ads, and intake, along with video advertising, reviews and reputation management, social media, AI powered intake and chat, lead scoring, landing page optimization, case and revenue attribution, and a performance dashboard. The company describes itself as Google's largest Local Services Ads partner and as Clio's sole preferred marketing provider.

The practice areas named are personal injury, criminal defense, family law, immigration, and estate and probate. Scorpion does not list a San Diego office, so a local firm would again be working with a remote team, though at a scale none of the others here operate at. Scorpion

What the list actually tells you

Two of the five publish a San Diego office: iLawyerMarketing and LawRank. Nexus Multimedia is headquartered here. Consultwebs and Scorpion serve the market remotely, which is not a defect; plenty of firms are well served by a remote team, and Scorpion in particular operates at a scale that local agencies do not.

All five now publish something about AI search, under a different name in each case: AI optimization, answer engine optimization, AI SEO, AI search, AI search visibility. The labels are not interchangeable, and the thing worth asking about is not what a company calls it but what it reports. There is a real difference between an agency that tells you it is doing AI work and one that shows you a frozen prompt set, a list of engines, and whether your firm was named this month. We set out the distinctions between the terms in GEO, AEO, and AI search visibility.

Service breadth also varies more than the category names suggest. If a firm wants streaming television and mass tort lead generation, that narrows the list immediately. If it wants local search, a repaired Google Business Profile, and to be named when somebody asks an assistant for a lawyer, a different subset applies.

Questions worth asking any of them

The same handful of questions separates a real partner from a good pitch, and they are the ones to put to every company on this list, including us.

Who does the work, and will you meet them? Who owns the website, the content, the analytics property, the Search Console account, the Google Business Profile, and the ad accounts if the relationship ends? What is the contract term and the notice period? What does the monthly report contain, and does it show cases and calls or only rankings and impressions? For AI search specifically, which engines are checked, how many prompts, and are they the same prompts every month?

We have written the longer version of this as questions to ask a law firm marketing agency, and the ownership question in particular is covered in who owns your website when you leave an agency. A company that answers all of them cleanly is worth talking to further, wherever it is on this page and wherever it is on the map.

Frequently asked questions

This roundup covers five companies serving San Diego law firms, of which three publish a San Diego presence: iLawyerMarketing, LawRank, and Nexus Multimedia. Consultwebs and Scorpion serve the market from offices elsewhere. The list is not exhaustive and is not ordered by quality.

Not necessarily. Local knowledge helps with Google Business Profile work, submarket differences across the county, and anything that depends on knowing the market first hand. National agencies bring scale and broader media capability. The right answer depends on which of those a firm actually needs.

Because neither could be stated honestly. None of these companies publish their rates, so any figure here would be invented. Ranking competitors in a piece written by one of them is not an assessment a reader should trust, so the list is alphabetical and every description comes from each company's own website.

SEO is one channel within marketing. An SEO agency works on search rankings, technical health, content, and local search. A marketing agency usually adds paid advertising, creative, PR, reputation work, and intake. Most companies on this list publish both, so the label matters less than the service list underneath it.
