WhatsApp account banned or taken over? We work the official path back.

Nexus Multimedia recovers banned, restricted, and hijacked WhatsApp accounts, including WhatsApp Business numbers, by diagnosing the ban, documenting the case, and working it through WhatsApp's and Meta's official review channels. Every case runs through the in-app review request, WhatsApp support, and, for business accounts on the WhatsApp Business Platform, Meta's business account review flow.

For a lot of businesses, WhatsApp is the front desk. Bookings, quotes, delivery updates, and the whole history of customer conversations run through a single phone number, and when that number is banned the conversations stop without warning on either side. Customers see a business that has gone quiet. The way back is narrow, and it is easy to close it by accident in the first few moves.

Which WhatsApp account problems can be recovered?

Temporary bans, permanent bans, business number bans, platform restrictions, and hijacked numbers each have an official route, and each route is different. Identifying which one you are in comes first.

Temporary bans

A temporary ban shows a countdown and an in-app message saying the account is temporarily banned. WhatsApp's own explanation is that it usually means an unofficial version of the app, or scraping. The fix starts with stopping the cause, because WhatsApp warns that an account which keeps using an unofficial app after a temporary ban can be banned permanently. See WhatsApp's article on temporarily banned accounts.

Permanent bans

A permanent ban shows a message that the phone number cannot use WhatsApp, usually with an option to request a review. That review request is the official appeal, and WhatsApp reviews one phone number per request. If no review option appears, WhatsApp treats the ban as final. WhatsApp sets this out in About account bans.

Bans caused by unofficial apps

GB WhatsApp, WhatsApp Plus, and similar modified apps violate WhatsApp's Terms of Service, and using one is among the most common reasons for a ban. The only way forward is to remove the modified app and install the official WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app from an official app store or WhatsApp's website. WhatsApp's guidance on account bans for unofficial apps is explicit about this.

Bulk messaging and spam reports

Automated messages, bulk broadcasts to people who never saved your number, and a wave of reports from recipients are the usual route to a spam ban. WhatsApp can also restrict an account first, which blocks new chats while existing conversations continue. A review request for this kind of ban has to show that the messaging was wanted and that the behaviour has stopped. WhatsApp explains restrictions in About restricted accounts.

WhatsApp Business app bans

The WhatsApp Business app is banned and reviewed the same way as the standard app, through Request review inside the app, and a banned business account also loses any Meta Verified subscription. Business numbers usually carry the most commercial damage, which makes it more important that the review request is accurate and complete the first time. See WhatsApp's article on account bans on the WhatsApp Business app.

WhatsApp Business Platform accounts restricted in Meta's business tools

Businesses that message through the WhatsApp Business Platform, directly or through a solution provider, cannot get help with bans from WhatsApp support at all. Their restrictions and violations sit in Meta Business Support Home, against the business portfolio that owns the WhatsApp Business account, and the appeal is filed there. Meta explains the steps in View policy violation details for your WhatsApp Business account.

Hijacked accounts where someone else registered the number

If someone tricked you into sharing your registration code, they can register your number on their own phone. You recover it by registering the number again with the code WhatsApp sends to your SIM, which logs the other person out. If they also set a two step verification PIN, there is a waiting period before you can get back in without it, and WhatsApp warns that reporting the account you are trying to recover can get it banned. The official steps are in How to recover a compromised account.

Where this fits

WhatsApp is one part of our wider social media account recovery work, which also covers Instagram, Facebook, Meta ads, and YouTube. If you are still working out what happened and want the first steps in order, start with our guide on what to do when a WhatsApp account is banned.

How does WhatsApp account recovery work?

Through diagnosis, documentation, and WhatsApp's and Meta's official channels, in that order. Every case follows these steps.

  1. Intake within one business day

You send the phone number, screenshots of the ban or restriction message, whether the number runs on the standard app, the Business app, or the Business Platform, and a short account of what happened. We respond within one business day.

  2. Diagnosis on the intake call

We establish which ban or restriction applies, what most likely triggered it, and whether there is a realistic path to recovery. We accept a case only when there is one, and you get a fixed quote before any work starts.

  3. Documentation

For a review request, that means an accurate account of how the number is used and why the ban is mistaken or the cause is resolved. For business numbers it can also mean business registration records, proof that recipients asked to hear from you, and the history of the number.

  4. Official paths only

We work the in-app review request, WhatsApp support, and Meta's business account review flow in Business Support Home for WhatsApp Business Platform accounts. No other route exists, and no other route is used.

  5. Restoration and hardening

Once the number is back, we tighten it. A two step verification PIN, an email address on the account, a review of every linked device, and messaging practices that stay inside WhatsApp's rules.

What we will not do.

Recovery work attracts people selling shortcuts. These are the ones we refuse, and refusing them is why the work holds up.

  • No new numbers to get around a ban. A number registered to carry on where a banned one stopped is ban evasion, and it puts the review of the original at risk.
  • No modified apps. GB WhatsApp, WhatsApp Plus, and every other unofficial client stay off the phone, during a recovery and after one.
  • No fake or edited documents, and no bulk messaging tools that break WhatsApp's terms.
  • No promises of inside contacts. We do not have them. Nexus Multimedia is not affiliated with YouTube, Google, WhatsApp, or Meta.

A fixed quote before any work starts.

You get a fixed quote after the intake call, based on the case type. A single personal number banned for an unofficial app and a business portfolio with several restricted WhatsApp Business accounts are not the same job, and the quote reflects that.

No work starts before you approve that quote, and the number does not move once it is set. If the diagnosis shows no realistic path to recovery, we say so and there is no quote to approve.

Common questions about WhatsApp account recovery

WhatsApp bans an account when it believes the activity violates its Terms of Service, most often through spam, bulk or automated messaging, an unofficial app, or scraping. WhatsApp rarely says which rule it applied, so the diagnosis starts from how the number was actually being used.

A temporary ban shows a countdown and usually points to an unofficial app or scraping, and it lifts once the period ends and the cause has stopped. A permanent ban says the number cannot use WhatsApp and usually offers a review request. If no review option appears, WhatsApp treats the ban as final.

Sometimes, yes. A ban applied by mistake, or one caused by behaviour that has since stopped, can be reversed through WhatsApp's review request. We tell you on the intake call whether we see a realistic path, and we accept the case only when there is one.

Not to get around a ban. Registering a different number to carry on what the banned number was doing is ban evasion, and it puts the review of the original number at risk. The path back for a banned number runs through that number's own review request.

Remove it and use the official app. GB WhatsApp, WhatsApp Plus, and similar apps violate WhatsApp's Terms of Service, and WhatsApp warns that continuing to use one after a temporary ban can make the ban permanent. Uninstall the modified app and install the official WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app.

Stop any bulk or automated messaging first, then request a review once from inside the WhatsApp Business app with an accurate account of how the number is used. If the number runs on the WhatsApp Business Platform instead, the violation is reviewed in Meta Business Support Home rather than in the app.

Often, but not always. WhatsApp treats a ban as final when no further review option appears, and contacting it through other channels will not change that. Where a business account has a separate route in Meta Business Support Home, or the facts were never properly presented, there may still be a path, and we tell you honestly if there is not.

Yes. We build and file the appeal through Meta's business account review flow in Business Support Home, which is where WhatsApp Business Platform violations are reviewed. WhatsApp support does not handle Business Platform bans, and the decision rests with Meta.

Register the number again on your own phone with the code WhatsApp sends to your SIM, which logs the other person out. If they set a two step verification PIN, WhatsApp makes you wait before you can sign in without it. Do not report the account you are recovering, because WhatsApp may ban it.

You cannot open your chats or backups while the number is banned. If the ban is lifted, a backup saved to your Google Account or iCloud may let you restore your chat history. Without a backup, earlier messages cannot be recovered through WhatsApp.

No. WhatsApp states that contacting it outside the review process, or through another person's account, does not speed up the review or change the decision. One accurate review request does more than several hurried ones.

No. Only WhatsApp can ban or unban an account, and WhatsApp says so directly. What we do is prepare the case and work the official review routes properly. Anyone claiming they can lift a ban themselves is selling something else.

No. Every case runs through WhatsApp's and Meta's official review and support channels with proper documentation. Nexus Multimedia is not affiliated with YouTube, Google, WhatsApp, or Meta.

You get a fixed quote after the intake call, based on the case type. No work starts before you approve that quote, and if there is no realistic path to recovery there is nothing to quote.

The phone number, screenshots of the ban or restriction message, whether it runs on the standard app, the Business app, or the Business Platform, the dates things happened, and any tools or apps connected to the number. For Business Platform accounts, admin access to the business portfolio matters too.
